A student of Charles Brown and slide guitar master Ron Thompson, Rogue was named “Best Solo Artist” in 2025 by the Richmond Blues Society and previously earned “Best Blues Band” honors from the DC Blues Society with the Rogue Johnsen Trio. He has toured internationally with artists including W.C. Clark, Archie Bell and the Drells and Miss Lavelle White.
Throughout his career, Rogue has shared stages with legendary performers such as B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Albert King and Koko Taylor while backing numerous respected blues artists. With formal training that includes jazz studies and a Masters of Education degree from George Mason University, his performances blend strong musicianship with authentic blues tradition, showcased across multiple solo and collaborative recordings.
