Bringing Culinary Creativity to Main Street
Meet Chef Jim Barrett
Wine Down on Main is proud to welcome Chef Jim Barrett to our team. With a passion for food, people, and creativity, Jim brings decades of experience and fresh energy to our kitchen.
Jim began his culinary journey at just 16, working under the executive chef at the MGM Hotel in Las Vegas. Since then, he has worn many hats in the restaurant world—from Chef to Managing Partner—and has had the opportunity to work alongside some of the top chefs in Virginia and Washington, D.C.
Throughout his career, Jim has cooked for a number of notable names, including Robert Duvall, Ed Asner, and Anthony Daniels, through his involvement with the Washington West Film Festival. When he’s not in the kitchen, you might find him playing saxophone in one of several D.C. area bands or enjoying the outdoors.
At Wine Down, Jim will be serving up a rotating weekly menu featuring four chef-crafted items: a salad, a soup, a sandwich, and a flatbread. These specials are thoughtfully created to pair beautifully with our curated selection of wines and craft beers—and they’re in addition to the same great menu you already know and love. Be sure to check our website menus or Facebook page each week to see what he’s cooking up!
Jim’s connection to Brevard runs deeper than food. His parents made Brevard their home for more than 35 years, and his mother still resides in the area. With such meaningful roots in the community, stepping into the kitchen at Wine Down on Main feels like coming home.
His love of food, music, and community make him a perfect fit for Brevard—and we’re thrilled to have him at Wine Down on Main.
