Proudly Continuing the Wine Down Tradition

New Owners

Beth and Fred Schenberg are proud to begin a new chapter at Wine Down on Main, continuing the tradition of quality wine, thoughtful small plates, and a welcoming atmosphere that has made Wine Down a favorite in downtown Brevard.

Their love of wine began years ago while living in Santa Barbara, California, where they spent time exploring Central Coast wineries and developing an appreciation for well-crafted wines and relaxed hospitality. Fred brings decades of experience in the restaurant industry, having worked in both chef-driven and casual full-service restaurants. His hands-on background and passion for hospitality play a key role in maintaining the quality and consistency guests expect.

Brevard has always been home to Beth. Her family has deep roots in the community, including a long connection to Main Street. Her grandparents lived in Brevard for more than 60 years, with her grandmother working just a few doors down from Wine Down at the former Belk on Main Street. Beth spent many childhood summers in the area exploring Pisgah Forest, Sliding Rock, and Graveyard Fields, experiences she later shared with her own children. Today, Beth and Fred live near downtown in the home her grandparents built, with family still close by.

As owners, Beth and Fred are committed to preserving what makes Wine Down special while respectfully carrying it forward. They are grateful to the original owners for creating such a meaningful space and to the most recent owner, Gary Glancy, for continuing the tradition and adding his love of craft beer to the Wine Down experience.

Their mission is simple: to continue offering excellent wine and beverages, gourmet small plates, live music, local art, and a relaxed, friendly space where friends and neighbors can gather. Beth and Fred are honored to be part of Wine Down’s story and look forward to welcoming both longtime guests and new faces alike.
